Review – The Flash: The Sound and the Fury

flash

The fun thing about watching The Flash is that whenever they introduce a new rogue, I know pretty much nothing about them. Unlike the rogues galleries of, say, Superman or Batman, I’m aware of some of the names of Flash’s villains, but aside from that, who they are, their motivations, I don’t know anything aside from the Rogues’ code they have in the comics (no drugs, no killing women and children).

And that’s what makes each new episode of this series different from Smallville or even some episodes of Arrow. I don’t take any knowledge into the episode, so I just get to judge whether or not the rogue works. While some have been pretty “meh,” like Multiplex or that gas-cloud guy, others, like Captain Cold and even Girder in his final moments, have shown that they can be fun, interesting characters to watch. Thankfully, Pied Piper falls into the latter category.

Probably because she just watched this episode.

Smallville Review: Shield

All things considered, this episode was all right.  Not too bad, but not really terrific, either.  It progressed the season’s arc somewhat (most of that with just the final shot), but I don’t feel that it really delivered on the promise/potential that last week’s premiere got us ready for.

Smallville Review: Lazarus

-CW

I’m not going to lie.  I like my quality TV.  I really do.  Like, really.  So let’s all be honest with one another for a second:  Smallville isn’t quality TV.  It’s not quite so bad as to be a guilty pleasure, but it’s probably too close to really make a stink about it.  I won’t watch it with anyone else.  Mind you, I have no problem letting people know I watch Smallville.  It’s just that if someone else is in the room with me watching it, suddenly that invisible wall is broken.  I’m suddenly accountable for what I’m watching and for what I actively look forward to every week.

That said, I was reasonably impressed with “Lazarus.”
