Review: Arrow – The Return

arrow

In last week’s episode, we were treated to several major developments all packed into a single episode. Obviously, they can’t do that for every one, or else the showrunners would run out of story and we’d get fatigued. I don’t know if I said it in the review for Arrow last week, but normally we’d get an entire episode framed around just the single sentence of any one of its reveals. This week’s episode, “The Return,” was just one of those episodes, framed around “You killed Sara.”

In the meantime, we were treated to, as the episode title suggests, the return to the Island, the return of the always-welcome Manu Bennett, plus the sorely-missed Colin Donnell in the guise of Tommy Merlyn.

Review: The Flash – Fallout

flash

In just its debut season, The Flash has managed to not only build its characters into fully realized ideas, but has done so with amazing storytelling, fun, and classic comic book leaps of logic that leave us yearning for more.

“Fallout” picked up literally right where last week’s “The Nuclear Man” left off, with Barry (holding Caitlin) running from a nuclear explosion, and my God, did that look pretty. And looking back, when the Flash running from a mushroom cloud isn’t the highlight of your episode, you know we’re in for a ride.

Jim and Leslie explore the dynamics of their relationship this week while investigating a murder at Haly’s Circus. Meanwhile, Fish Mooney cements her place as a leader in the underground prison and hijinks ensue.

Also, you know, Barbara is back.

Review: Constantine – Waiting for the Man

Constantine - Season 1

Constantine‘s season finale was fairly indicative of the series as a whole so far: very, very procedural.

Review: Arrow – Canaries

arrow

With the much-hyped return of Caity Lotz as the Canary, Arrow made some major advances in its story and character development, while still regrettably not delivering very well on the confrontation between Canaries.

Also, yeah, full spoilers be ahead.

Review: The Flash – The Nuclear Man

flash

Going full steam ahead in the hunt for Ronnie/Dr. Stein, and Detective West’s secret investigation into the murder of Barry’s mom, “The Nuclear Man” proved to be yet another strong entry for The Flash, with some missteps around the Barry/Linda/Iris love triangle.

Review: Better Call Saul – Mijo

The second episode of the Breaking Bad spinoff shows us just how wide the range is with Jimmy’s bargaining skills. One on hand, he successfully convinces a full-blown psychopath from handing down a death sentence, all the way to badgering a prosecutor down to a more palatable charge for a kid who just stole a slice of pizza (which, in Jimmy terms, probably means he knocked over a Domino’s).

Review: Gotham – The Scarecrow

gotham

This week’s episode more or less picks up where last week’s episode left off. Gordon and Bullock are still hot on the heels of a man murdering phobics and stealing their adrenal glands for reasons unknown (and in ways I can only imagine totally hold up to real-world science).

Gotham‘s strong suit has not always been its villains of the week, but for a second time, it decided to stretch out a villain, Gerald Crane, for a second episode, and as a whole, was stronger for it.

Review: The Walking Dead – What Happened and What’s Going On

Back from a midseason break, The Walking Dead returns with an episode that feels oddly disconnected from the rest of the season, and especially disconnected from the final few seconds of the episode that preceded it.

Full spoilers below the jump, guys.

ATOM Suit Revealed

If you don’t want to see it, groovy, I’ll put it below the jump, but the CW has released the very first photo of Brandon Routh wearing Arrow‘s version of the A.T.O.M. suit, and while it’s something of a departure from the comic version, it’s still pretty snazzy looking.
